B. Moy December 22, 1969 This is the last composition in Mr. Smiths class. Your boxes, Mr. Smith, are very fascinating. I only started working them very recently and I like them. Some of the material youve put into these boxes are things I knew little or nothing about. These boxes give you a better understanding of English literature and teach you more. The idea of working at your own speed is ideal also. Especially those who have trouble keeping up with the class. The idea of no teacher is also good, because kids who are shy and didnt know any of those things will get a better understanding of what your intentions are in those boxes. Also the presentation of the subjects in those boxes is easy to understand. The reviews, I think, should be longer and cover more material, but the idea of having a review in the boxes is good. Im only up to box four, but I think they are real good anyhow. Return to the Student Feedback page.George H. January 7, 1970 I believe that the units that I have already taken have taught me a better understanding of sentence structure. It is an easy way to learn, and I believe it teaches a person much faster than if he was in a regular class. The boxes give examples of the correct method, and then repeat them until you learn them. At first, it seemed to be an elementary course, going over unimportant things. But Ive learned that the simple things lead into bigger, more important ones. I prefer learning things on my own rather than to have a teacher talk for hours and say nothing. In the self-teaching method you know right away if you are wrong or right, you dont have to wait weeks for a teacher to grade the paper. I am glad that Ive had a chance to better myself on my own. It taught me some things that I didnt know and made me understand the things that I did know a lot better. I now have a clearer understanding of sentence patterns than I did before. Im still a little shaky on inflections of words, but I understand it enough. The thing I most understood was singular and plural words. I have a better understanding of that too. The method of teaching explained it better to me step-by-step. Ive never been taught anything the way that Mr. Smith taught it to me. I like the way Mr. Smith teaches more than any other teacher Ive had. Return to the Student Feedback page. |
