Overview
Families and classrooms face the problem of students who read below grade level. The developer of The Language Enrichment Program faced and solved this pressing problem for students in his own classroom. Now this self-contained, self-instructional reading program is offered on this website to a wider audience by the developer.
This program has been in continuous development, use, and validation for a longer period than any other reading program available on the market today. It has proven successful for students above age eight. The author has used it with students in middle school, high school, college, and adults. On an individual basis the program has been used to tutor students as young as third grade. This program works well over a wide range of grade levels because it is content centered, not grade level centered. The program teaches students to understand the basic structure of English to enable them to comprehend todays more complexly written textbooks and other reading material.
Typical results documented by the author in his own classes show that students on average gain two years in reading achievement in a single semester. Those students range individually from one to five years reading growth. A typical class shows 80% of the students show measurable improvement. The top eight students (of nearly 40) in the authors first classroom trial of the program tested as many years above their grade level in reading as they had been behind.
The Language Enrichment Program is written to teach its content step by step, using approximately 2500 individual steps in seventy-five exercises in twenty-four chapters. The program is self-instructional and includes answer keys with notes and explanations. The program is student-friendly, and can be used with little or no help from a parent, tutor, or teacher. The program takes from twenty-four to seventy-two hours to complete. The program is self-paced, permitting the learner to proceed at his or her own speed. It can be successfully worked in short segments, yet students who are so motivated may continue using it for as long as they wish at a single sitting.
Imagine the benefit to you, your child, or your students that two or more years gain in reading achievement provides. In the developers classroom experience, students read better, read more, do better in all their classes, maintain the gains and benefits from the program permanently, and are far more motivated to pursue academic work successfully. Students have had their lives changed radically for the better. Instead of being probable or certain dropouts, the developers students went on to successful high school or college experiences and careers. The developer tutored high school athletes who then successfully improved their ACT or SAT scores to secure college athletic scholarships using The Language Enrichment Program.
